To mark the International Day of the African Child, five our of our young people – Haruna, Fredrick, Yusra, Jeremia and Serafina – are at Fountain Radio to discuss the challenges faced by children growing up in Tanzania. Gosh, they do look nervous!
The Tanzanian Parliament is currently debating proposed amendments to the 1971 Marriage Act, which would ban child marriage. The current law disproportionately affects young girls, who can be legally betrothed during secondary school, putting an end to their education.
We’re very proud to see the young people of Kijana Kwanza, speaking out in favour of this historic change that will create a stronger, more equal and prosperous Tanzania.
