Meet 15-year-old Rizwani, one of 20 children and young people, left homeless after the eviction of Halima Orphanage in April 2023.
As a school drop-out, Rizwani moved to KK Njoro, our hostel for apprentices, where he started work as a trainee welder at a local business. Since then he has flourished, matured and has a real sense of purpose in life.
This week he presented his own creation: a table made from scrap metal, which he hopes to sell for TZS 60,000 (approx £20/$26). He will use the funds as capital to build a bedframe, which he says will make a bigger profit.
