This Sunday, Tanzania joins the world in honouring the dedication and impact of teachers, those who light the way for future generations. This year, we are especially proud to highlight Mohammed Banda, a living testament to what compassion, perseverance and faith in children can accomplish.
From early on, Banda’s life was marked by extreme hardship. Abandoned by his family at age eight, he sold charcoal before and after school just to scrounge enough for food. Yet through every challenge, he never lost sight of hope. Having completed his traineeship last year, he is now a qualified social worker with Kijana Kwanza, proof that adversity does not define one’s future.
Teacher Banda is now welcoming students to our Pre-Form 1 course, taught for the very first time from our newly built Shabaha Children’s Home.
On this World Teachers’ Day, we extend special gratitude to Teacher Banda for teaching, inspiring and building futures. He embodies the spirit of service we strive for, a teacher who not only educates but deeply understands the lives of the children he serves.
