The eldest of four, Akidu’s family lives in a mud house without electricity or running water, but his future looks different.

Now a second year electrical student he is gaining hands on experience installing wiring at the National Hospital in Kibongoto.

He is one of five students — alongside Samwel, Aizack, Miraji and Sajadi — who have passed their Level 2 exams and will now progress to Level 3,  becoming the first KK students to reach this level in vocational training.

These real world skills are setting him up for financial independence and the ability to support his family.
