We are delighted to welcome our new Bibis, meaning “grandmothers” in Swahili, as they begin their foster carer training with our staff.
At Sakina Family Village, they will care for vulnerable children, some as young as five, who have experienced neglect, loss and instability. These children need more than a place to live. They need safety, consistency, care and someone they can trust.
Our older Bibis, many of whom have faced marginalisation, will have a safe place to live, meaningful work and a regular stipend, providing greater financial security and independence.
