After a day of non-stop drilling through volcanic rock, we are pleased to announce that we now have a sustainable source of water at our shelter in Kariwa Village, on the outskirts of town.

After government water supplies were cut due to shortages in Moshi Town, our children were forced to fetch water from the river – toilets were left unsanitary and no one could bathe. The only sustainable solution – a deep water well, tunnelling through 160m of volcanic rock.

Following an emergency appeal last week to raise £12,000/$15,000, friends of Kijana Kwanza from across the world responded in droves, and tonight we have a water supply that will meet our needs for years to come.

On behalf of our children, thank you for making this possible.
