Not every child flourishes in the classroom. 14-year-old Rama and 15-year-old Juma did not pass their national examinations, but with Kijana Kwanza, they’ve been given a second chance to gain new, practical skills.
Our apprenticeship programme offers them an alternative route to financial independence. School drop-outs or those young people who decide not to continue with formal education, are offered a placement in local industries to train on the job in mechanics, carpentry, tailoring or electrical installation.
Just see how happy they are! But don’t be fooled. They’re a mischievous pair!
