Water is life

No excuse to miss class sessions.

With government water supplies cut or restricted, the children at Kariwa Primary School have been skipping class in search of water streams to quench their thirst.

Often the water is contaminated resulting in children becoming sick. And without a fixed supply, the toilets always reak of unflushed urine and faeces.

Over the holidays, Kijana Kwanza has been busy digging a 150m deep water well and installing a solar powered pump system in preparation for the new academic year. Next week the children will return to school and witness the new facility – as well as enjoy, a regular supply of clean water.

We are very grateful to WF-Aid for providing a generous grant towards this project.
