Consultancy Opportunity: Trusts & Foundations Fundraising

Kijana Kwanza (Young People First) is seeking an experienced Trusts & Foundations fundraising consultant to help us expand and diversify our income as we implement our Strategic Plan 2026–2030.

We are a UK-registered charity and Tanzanian NGO supporting vulnerable children and young people in Moshi, Kilimanjaro through education, training, housing, safeguarding and pathways to long-term self-reliance. As we approach an annual turnover of £1 million, strengthening our Trusts & Foundations portfolio is a key strategic priority.

The work includes:

  • Conducting structured prospect research to identify well-aligned funders.

  • Developing a prioritised engagement plan and funder database.

  • Preparing and submitting funding applications throughout the year.

  • Supporting external engagement that enhances Kijana Kwanza’s visibility and reputation.

  • Providing light capacity-building support to staff.

Estimated input: up to 10 days for research and up to 25 days per year for application development and engagement.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from consultants with:

  • A strong track record of Trusts & Foundations fundraising in international development, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Experience crafting persuasive cases for support and translating strategic plans into fundable propositions.

  • Excellent research, writing and communication skills.

  • An outcome-driven approach and confidence to secure £70,000–£100,000 within the first 18 months.
